Founder Journey

I’ve always been facinated by industry and innovation — the way people, organisations, and the physical world come together and build the systems and machines that move society forward.

After my engineering degree in Delft, my path began offshore on gas platforms with Shell. The experience as a young offshore installation manager grounded me in the realities of complex systems and the essence of leadership and teamwork under high‑risk operations.

Balancing the urgency of decarbonisation with society’s unshakeable need for reliable energy, I helped shape Shell’s decarbonisation agenda for Upstream operations. Later, at RWE, I worked on Europe’s largest green hydrogen agenda — witnessing a new commodity market take shape in real time and securing projects that form the back-bone for green electrochemistry in the Netherlands.

My career in Energy showed me what systemic change looks and feels like up close. How impactful we can when collaboration between organisations truly ignites. To recognize the attitudes and relations that fuel change and to sense the opportunities to accelerate or consolidate when needed.

In that space of multi-party collaboration I found my passion. To solve tough commercial problems in the lion’s den, negotiating, collaborating our way through the unknowns and finding unconventional solutions.

With Undercurrent, I act as a sparring partner and practical dealmaker for the people doing the hard, often invisible work of transformation — those challenging the status quo inside companies, organisations and institutions, pushing systems forward even when it’s political or without direct gratification.

My role is to make their path a little easier, a little more amplified as we shape the next chapter of the industrial revolution,
